Fifty people arrested in Tehran gatherings

Chief of Tehran Security Forces announced the arrest of 50 individuals in the gatherings of Thursday, July 30th. Norooz Website reports that over 40 thousand mourners gathered in Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery as well as the large Prayer Ground of Tehran to mark 40 days since the death of the protesters of the outcome of the elections on the streets of Tehran. MirHosein Mousavi and Mehdi Karoubi, the two candidates disputing the outcome of the elections, whose application to hold a commemoration ceremony for the occasion was previously turned down by government officials, appeared at the cemetery to commiserate with the victims’ families. Despite the people’s resistance, Mousavi and Karoubi were forced out of the premises by state police.
