Obstruction of ceremony to commemorate recent victims

Iranian Ministry of Interior has rejected MirHosein Mousavi's and Mehdi Karoubi's application for a permit to set up a commemoration ceremony for the victims of recent events in Iran. The two candidates opposing the outcome of recent election had applied for this permit in unison. The authorities declared that amongst Iranians a funeral is usually held by the family of the deceased in the local mosque. Such an event required no permit unless the applicants' had ulterior political motives. In the course of nationwide protests against the results of recent elections, many people were killed and injured by the violent attacks of the police and un-uniformed groups. Meanwhile military commanders claim their forces were not carrying weapons.
