Opposition leader takes hard stance against government crackdown on protesters

MirHosein Mousavi, the main candidate disputing the outcome of June 12 Iranian elections, condemned a system that takes no steps to investigate the recent atrocities against the people. While the authoirities have denied allegations of mistreatment of the detainees, Mousavi demanded "an inquiry into the death and broken jaws of Mohsen AmirMomeni in prison". He exclaimed that "Iran cannot be turned into a prison for 70 million people where even the justice system is barred from inquiring about the prison and the prisoners." He warned the leaders of the Islamic Republic that people will not forgive the criminals that have been persecuting them and that those criminals, like their predecessors before the Revolution, will be brought to justice.
