Ahmadinejad’s presidential inauguration set for August 3rd

Ayatollah Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, will pass on the Order of Presidency to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the tenth presidency of Iran on August 3rd at the official Tanfeez Ceremony. According to Iranian law, once the outcome of the election is confirmed by the Guardian Council, a letter of good standing is prepared for the new president and the supreme leader “passes on to him the will of the people.” The president is to be sworn in on the next day at the Parliament. He will then have three to four days to present the Parliament with his cabinet for a vote of confidence.
MirHosein Mousavi and Mehdi Karoubi have challenged the outcome of the elections but their call for another election has been denied by the Supreme Leader and the Guardian Council. While in the aftermath of the elections unrest persists in many Iranian cities, protesters also plan to organize further actions on the days of the presidential ceremonies.
