Scores of political reformists arrested in Iran


Scores of Iranian reformist political figures have been arrested following yesterday’s protests. Reformist websites report that the arrests have commenced from the early hours of today Monday.

Ebrahim Yazdi, head of Nehzat-e Azadi was arrested at 3 a.m. this morning. Emadeddin Baghi, journalist and human rights activist, was also arrested some time later.

Reportedly Hosein Mousavi Tabrizi, head of Qom Seminary and a number of other members of the Seminary have also been detained.

Parlem News reports that two executive members of Baran Foundation were arrested and papers and documents of the foundation were confiscated.

Alireza Beheshti, head of Kalameh Website and several other aides to opposition leader, MirHosein Mousavi were also arrested.

Mehdi Arabshahi, head of the student organization, Tahkim-e Vahdat was arrested as well.

Internet speed all across Iran has been reduced to a crawl and there is no access to email and messenger services since yesterday evening.
