Student organization foresees fall of establishment

Iranian student organization, Unity Consolidation Bureau in a public statement condemned the “violent attack” of Mashad university students last night and the widespread arrest of students across the country, calling these acts "the mark of the instability and fatal fall of the establishment."

Yesterday a group of government supporters swarmed a peaceful student rally which resulted in the hospitalization of at least eight students with stab wounds.

The Consolidation Bureau (Daftar-e Tahkim-e Vahdat) maintains that the "struggle for freedom against the government’s despotism will continue until it reaches its culmination, and this affair is reaching its end.”

The student organization also spoke out against the widespread arrest of student activists across the country describing it a "clear violation of law and justice."

Bahareh Hedayat, the Bureau’s press secretary was arrested last night at her home after her house was raided and her belongings were confiscated.

Mehdi Arabshahi and Milad Asadi are two other executive members of the Consolidation Bureau that were arrested in the last few days.

Sharif University student, Nafiseh Asghari was arrested on Tuesday upon being called for questioning at the Ministry of Intelligence, according to Jaras Website. Reportedly the officials have refused to give any information regarding her whereabouts to her family.

Universities have consistently kept the fire of election protests going in the past seven months and the government has responded to the protests with repeated crackdown on students with progressively increased violence.

Since the mass protests of Ashura Day on December 27, the government has stepped up the violence which resulted in at least 8 deaths and over 500 arrests.

Over 70 university students nationwide have been arrested since December 27.
