Faezeh Rafsanjani urged judiciary to process their lawsuit

Faezeh Hashemi, daughter of Iran’s Chairman of the Expediency Council, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani told Bahar newspaper that the judiciary has failed to process their lawsuit against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Mehdi Hashemi, son of Ayatollah Rafsanjani reported filing a lawsuit on behalf of the Hashemi Rafsanjani family against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in July of 2009. During his campaign, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made several accusations against Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani’s children which prompted the filing of a lawsuit by the Hashemi children.

Faezeh Hashemi denied rumours about the extensive possessions of the Hashemi family and maintained they are merely attempts at “destroying” Ayatollah Rafsanjani’s reputation.

She added: “Mr. Hashemi has no weaknesses so they take advantage of rumours and lies that have been circulated for years about his children for the single purpose of getting at him.”

The former Member of Parliament emphasized that all the vast number of real estate and businesses that have been attributed to the Hashemi family both in Iran and abroad are all lies.

She also claimed that his brother Mehdi Hashemi would like to return to Iran but the family has decided to advise him against it due to the agitated situation of the country. Mehdi Hashemi is currently residing in Britain.

Head of Tehran Revolutionary Court announced that they have filed a lawsuit against Mehdi and Faezeh Hashemi.

The two children of Ayatollah Rafsanjani have been accused of participating in the recent post-election protests. Faezeh Hashemi was arrested for several hours in one of the recent street protests.

Faezeh Hashemi in reference to her arrest said: “Families and children of several other officials were also present in the gathering and some of them were even arrested and of course released right away. But the news of their arrest was not reflected in the media. How is my presence so different from theirs?”

The children of Ayatollah Rafsanjani endorsed the opposition candidate, MirHosein Mousavi in the tenth presidential election in June 2009.
