Iran calls for extradition of Pezhak leader


Speaker of Iranian parliament, Ali Larijani

Ali Larijani, speaker of Iranian parliament announced that Iran has begun diplomatic procedures for the extradition of Pezhak leader from Germany.

Abdolrahman Hajiahmadi, leader of the Iranian political group, Pezhak was recently arrested by German police.

Fars news agency reports that Ali Larijani has urged German authorities to hand over Hajiahamadi to Iran so he can be put on trial.

Pezhak is an Iranian Kurdish organization with close ties to the Kurdish group PKK in Turkey which is considered as terrorist organization by the US and Europe.

In the meantime, Turkish media have reported that Belgian authorities have arrested two top PKK members.

Iraqi region of Kurdistan borders the mountainous region of Kurdistan in Iran and Turkey and these highlands shelter PKK and Pezhak rebels.

Pezhak, which Iran considers as a terrorist organization, has several bases in the north-eastern region of Iraq from where they engage in activities against Iran.
