Iranian reformist group defiant despite fierce government pressure

Iranian reformist organization, Islamic Iran Participation Front calls on all political and social activists to continue their social struggles and not “give in to the empire of lies.”

Islamic Iran Participation Front’s announcement was published after the Ministry of Interior stopped the organization from holding its annual congress.

Solat Mortazavi, political deputy of the Ministry of Interior told ILNA that the ban of the Participation Front’s Congress was issued by the judiciary.

The Islamic Participation Front described the government actions revealing of “their lack of commitment to the constitution and the current laws.”

The political organization states that the establishment’s efforts to restrict their political activities merely reveals the “weakness of the government” and claimed that contrary to the government's efforts, civil institutions and activists will “grow and expand" their activities.

Jaras website published a report concerning the opposition leader, MirHosein Mousavi meeting with executive and youth members of the Islamic Iran Participation Front. The details of this meeting have not been publicized yet.

Islamic Iran Participation Front endorsed MirHosein Mousavi in the June presidential elections and in the post-election protest to the alleged fraud that brought Mahmoud Ahmadinejad back to power, numerous members of this organizations were arrested and put to trial.

Pro-Ahmadinejad hardliners have also called for the dismantling of this reformist organization.
