Ahmadinejad economic policies condemned by parliament chief

Ali Larijani

Ali Larijani, Speaker of Iranian Parliament criticized Ahamedinejad’s economic policies in form of handouts from a “rescue committee.”

Fars news agency reports that Larijani told a meeting for the investigation of the fifth project for national development that ending poverty must not become an affront to people’s “dignity.”

The Speaker of the House said: “There must be a clear definition of justice. The distribution of the country’s resources as we have been distributing oil and gas is contrary to justice.”

“We want people to live with dignity,” Larijani added; “not to merely survive on handouts.”

Larijani’s remarks come at a time when Iranian economists have criticized the government’s economic policy of direct distribution of resources.

Ahmadinejad has dismissed this line of criticism and accused his critics of “financial corruption.” He claims the people involved in "financial corruption" are trying to stop the government from delivering its “services” to people.
