Detained prisoner fears for his life in prison

Detained journalist and filmmaker, Mohammad Nourizad expresses grave concern over his own and his family’s safety and says the Ministry of Intelligence must take responsibility for his life.

Mohammad Nourizad, who has been imprisoned for writing three letters of criticism to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison.

In a letter, Nourizad declares that whatever unforeseen calamity befalls him or his family, will be the doing of the establishment which is seeking revenge on him.

Nourizad has been in prison for over six months. Some weeks ago, he was attacked by a group of unidentified personnel who entered his cell and subjected him to a head injury. Following this attack, he went on a hunger strike which his family, encouraged by Tehran’s Prosecutor, convinced Nourizad to break.

Nourizad family claims the Prosecutor-General did not honour his promise to release the prisoner.
