Two IAEA inspectors barred from entering Iran

Ali Akbar Salehi, Iran’s chief nuclear energy negotiator announced that two International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors are banned from entering Iran for “having reported false information about Iran’s facilities.”

Salehi criticized the actions of these two inspectors and maintained that the two officials had given a “false” report about Iran’s nuclear activities in Vienna.

Mehr news agency reports that Iran has protested against these individuals and told the IAEA that they need to introduce two different inspectors in order to continue with their inspections.

In the last report of the IAEA on Iran, it is said that although Iran has been cooperative, the “level of cooperation” does not fully convince the inspectors that they are not seeking nuclear weapons.

The report also indicates that Iran has not been able to respond to questions about its nuclear activities in a timely fashion. The head of IAEA has also said that Iran will never allow inspections to go “beyond NPT.

Salehi emphasized that Iran is heedful of its international commitments but added: “Iran will never forego its rights and it does not seek anything beyond that.”

The IAEA report stated that Iran has not only paid no attention to the former Security Council resolution demanding an end to its uranium enrichment, it has even installed new equipment which can speed up its enrichment capacities.

Following this report, the Security Council passed a fourth resolutions to impose further sanctions on Iran to restrict its nuclear activities.
