12 Iranian political prisoners finallly removed from solitary

Twelve of the 16 political prisoners who went on hunger strike at Evin Prison have been finally removed from solitary confinement.

Jaras website reports that Abdollah Momeni, Bahman Ahmadi Amouyi and Keyvan Samimi still remain in solitary confinement.

Keyvan Samimi is the last one to be still on hunger strike. Jaras reports that the prisoners who returned to the general section of prison were physically “weak and frail” and they have still not been given permission to contact their families.

The prisoners have reported that the morale of the three remaining prisoners in solitary confinement is high but they have also expressed grave concern over Keyvan Samimi’s health who continues his hunger strike.

The prisoners, who had gone on hunger strike 22 days ago to protest against being mistreated by prison guards, broke their hunger strike after top opposition figures urged them to do so in fear of their failing health.

Keyvan Samimi has continued his hunger demanding the removal of all the 16 prisoners from solitary confinement.

Reza Malek, another prisoner who joined the hunger strike some days ago is reportedly still in solitary confinement and Daneshjoo News also reports that one of the 16 prisoners who were on hunger strike, the student activist, Majid Tavakoli has been transferred to Rejai Shahr Prison in Karaj.

His brother told the student website that the family has not been able to contact him but a prisoner at Rejai Shahr Prison has reported having seen him.

For the past three weeks, families of the detainees on huger strike have been held in complete news blackout about their kin and their protests outside prison have remained without response from prison officials.
