Attacks on Karroubi's home intensified

One of the past attacks on Mehdi Karroubi

Pro-government forces of the Islamic Republic, often referred to as plain-clothes forces, once more attacked the home of the Iranian opposition leader, Mehdi Karroubi, tonight.

Saham News reports that people carrying firearms attacked the opposition leader’s residence.

The assailants reportedly broke the front door of the building complex and forced Karroubi’s bodyguards to resort to shooting into the air.

Some unconfirmed reports indicate that the assailants also fired shots and threw Molotov bombs.

Mehdi Karroubi’s home has been the target of attacks by the pro-government forces over the past four nights.

Mehdi Karroubi, who has been the target numerous attacks since the disputes over the re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, had announced earlier that he is planning to participate in the Qods Day demonstrations which take place tomorrow. The repeated attacks seem to be timed to intimidate the opposition leader into foregoing his participation in the events.
