Families of Iranian political detainees persecuted by authorities

Parvin Tajik, sister of detained Iranian journalist, Abdolreza Tajik was interrogated today at Evin Prison Court for discussing his brother’s situation with the media.

Kaleme website reports that Parvin Tajik was summoned by Evin Court and charged with “activities against national security, disturbing public perception and propaganda against the regime.”

The report goes on to add that the interrogator has told Parvin Tajik that her charges are clear because she gave interviews to foreign media regarding the situation of his brother in prison.

Abdolreza Tajik was arrested for the third time this year last June. Once in a meeting with his sister, he had informed his sister that he “had been dishonoured” by prison authorities, words that human rights groups interpreted as an admission of being sexually assaulted in prison.

In the same vein, Zahra Mojarradi, wife of detained secretary general of the reformist party, Islamic Iran Participation Front, was summoned to the prosecutor’s office yesterday.

Kaleme reports that Mojarradi has to report to the prosecutor’s office tomorrow in order to “offer explanation for a number of issues.”

Mojarradi’s husband, Mohsen Mirdamadi was arrested in the post-election protests to the controversial victory of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Iran’s 2009 presidential elections and was released after 270 days in prison on a heavy bail.

However, a recent critical letter he wrote with seven other of his peers to offer evidence of irregular interference in the elections led to his recall back to Evin Prison.
