Iran loads new nuclear palnt with fuel

Bushehr Nuclear Plant

Iran began loading fuel onto reactor core of its new Bushehr Nuclear Plant today moving closer to its final start up.

Iranian media reported that after numerous successful test, this morning the fuel injection was carried out successfully in the presence of Atomic Agency officials.

Last month Ali Akbar Salehi announced that the launch of the nuclear facilities was delayed due to “precipitation in the fuel pool adjacent to the reactor.”

A number of sources claimed that the delay in the launch of the reactor was caused by the Stuxnet computer virus infecting the computers of this facility; however, Atomic Energy officials denied this.

The Stuxnet virus is constructed to damage industrial computer systems and it is said to have the capability of transferring control of the system to external computers.

According to a number of reports Iran has been the country that was most affected by this virus.

Iran’s intelligence ministry however announced a while ago that they have identified the sources of Stuxnet infection and overcome its effects.

Bushehr Nuclear Facility has been in the making for over thirty years. It was finally finished with the aid of Russia this summer and at full capacity, it is to produce 1000 Megawatts of electricity.
