Mousavi: National crisis cannot be denied

MirHosein Mousavi
MirHosein Mousavi posted his first interview concerning the recent crisis in the country on the internet. In it he claimed the only way to come out of this crisis is to first “acknowledge the crisis” and then respect “people’s rights.”
He added: “Until the crisis and the problems are neglected and until the majority of people are called “rioters,” until people are not counted as part of the equation, until people’s right to determine their fate is not accepted, we will not find a comprehensive solution to overcome the problems.”
As in his many other speeches, the disputing candidate of Iran’s presidential elections emphasised the need to return to the provisions of the constitution.
In reference to the movement he has come to name “the Green Path of Hope” he maintained that this is not a movement directed by political parties, but a movement comprised of multifarious groups in the society struggling for a “progressive Iran.” Iran’s former prime minister explained: “This way it is not an issue how and to what extent each person is supporting the movement. What is important is that there is a common will all across the country.”
MirHosein Mousavi also remarked that although the chairman and certain members of the Expediency Council have talked about formulating plans to resolve the current national crisis, he has not been approached by anyone concerning these plans.
Habibollah Asgaroladi, chairman of the conservative group Followers of Imam and Leadership Front and member of the Expediency Council told the press yesterday that they have sent their plan for the resolution of this crisis to the Supreme Leader for final approval.
While Ayatollah Rafsanjani, chairman of the Expediency Council first proposed the need for a plan to come out of the current situation, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been quoted saying sarcastically, “What is wrong with the current situation?”
