Opposition leader's nephew killed in today's clashes

Ali Mousavi, nephew of Iran’s opposition leader, MirHosein Mousavi has been reportedly shot in the heart in today’s protests.

Parleman News reports that the body of the 35-year-old victim is currently at Ebn Sina Hospital with a gunshot wound in the heart. Kalameh website reports that MirHosein Mousavi is at the hospital following up on the condition of his nephew.

Protesters had announced that today on Ashura Day they would organize a procession from Emam Hossein Square to Azadi Square. Clashes between security forces and protesters have so far led to four deaths and tens of injuries.

Iranian Police Force has categorically denied that any protesters have been killed today.

MirHosein Mousavi, one of the disputing candidates of the June presidential elections which started the recent turmoil, has been the target of several hardliner attacks for his refusal to back off from his allegations of fraud in the elections.

Recently his car was attacked by pro-government forces on his return from Ayatollah Montazeri’s funeral and he was also fired from his government position as head of the Academy of Arts.
