Head of Parliament criticizes Ahmadinejad Government

Iran's Speaker of Parliament, Ali Larijani

Iran’s Speaker of the Parliament, Ali Larijani, speaking in a meeting with public supervisors and directors of Central Province announced that the management of the country is “flawed” and cannot be conducted through “extremist imaginings.”

He added that the judiciary and executive branches of the government need to address these issues since “the country must be run with realistic plans in the framework of the constitution.”

Ali Larijani, who was the head of the National Security Council in the previous government but resigned his position, has turned into a government critique since he entered the parliament.

He also spoke in reference to the election disputes and the following protests, claiming protesters should follow their demands through legal channels.

He added that the Supreme Leader does not approve of anyone insulting others in his name. In the course of the election protests, pro-government forces in plain clothes have attacked and insulted protesters claiming support for Ayatollah Khamenei.

Last week, Ayatollah Khamenei discouraged any form of vigilante style “arbitrary” action by the citizens also insisting that all issues must be pursued through legal channels.

In the past weeks, pro-government forces in plain clothes have attacked university campuses, offices of reformist Shiite clerics and opposition leader, Mehdi Karroubi and no one has claimed responsibility for these actions.
