Karroubi reaffirms plan to join February 11 events

Iranian oppsition leader, Mehdi Karroubi announced today that he will join the February 11 demonstrations at 10 a.m. stating the exact location in the city where he plans to join the demonstrations.

The opposition leader issued a statement today inviting people to join the demonstrations adding that he will participate in the events of February 11 as he has done in all the past years.

The announcement published on Saham News urges people to join the march and “pursue their legal and rightful demands with silence, as calmly and firmly as they have done in the past.”

The other two prominent opposition leaders, MirHosein Mousavi and Mohammad Khatami have also invited their supporters to join the events.

Coordination Council of the Reformist Front which is comprised of 17 political groups has also issued a rally call urging the supporters of the Green Movement to join the events to commemorate the victory of the 1979 Revolution on February 11 by carrying green symbols.

The conservative factions of the government have also called on their supporters to attend tomorrow’s demonstrations.

The establishment has spent the past weeks trying to discourage protesters from making their presence felt in the events by stepping up the crackdown on dissidents.

Ayatollah Khamenei has announced that the people’s presence on this day will “stupefy” the enemies of the Islamic Republic.
