Iran Guardian Council denies receiving any complaints

Guardian Council Spokesman, Abbussali Kadkhodayi

Spokesman for Iran’s Guardian Council announced today that they have not received a letter of complaint from Mostafa Tajzadeh.

Abbussali Kadkhodai told reporters in a press conference that "the Guardian Council promptly responds to all complaints that it receives,” but denied ever receiving any complaints from the former deputy of the Ministry of Interior, Mostafa Tajzadeh.

He added that if the case at issue is a lawsuit against Mr. Janati, then the judiciary would have received it.

Mostafa Tajzadeh filed a lawsuit against the head of the Guardian Council, Ahmad Janati in 1999 which the judiciary has failed to address after over ten years.

Tajzadeh accuses Ahmad Janati of voiding 700 thousand votes in the parliamentary elections of Tehran.

Tajzadeh was in charge of running the elections at the time and claims that the Guardian Council thus dictated who would get into the parliament.

After ten years, the tables have turned and following last year’s June presidential elections, which the opposition claims was rigged to secure the re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Mostafa Tajzadeh was arrested charged with “propaganda against the system, activities against national security, insulting government authorities and possessing secret documents.”

Mostafa Tajzadeh has refused to defend himself against the charges before his lawsuit against Mr. Janati is addressed, reformist websites report.

The member of reformist organizations Islamic Iran Participation Front and Mojahedin of the Islamic Revolution was temporarily released two days ago after nine months in custody. Reportedly he has been released without a bail.

Opposition leaders, MirHosein Mousavi, Mehdi Karroubi and Mohammad Khatami along with numerous other social and political activists have reportedly visited him in the past two days.
