Families of Iranian detainees demand release of their kin



Reportedly families of recent Iranian political prisoners gathered in front of Evin Prison in Tehran last night and this morning.

Reformist website, Kalameh reports that hundreds of protesters and families of the recent detainees gathered last night at Evin Prison to demand the release of political prisoners.

According to Kalameh the gathering started around 5:30 p.m. and around 11 p.m. the numbers had reached 500.

A number of prisoners have been released on heavy bails; however, many still remain in custody.

Green Path Movement Website also reports that this morning a number of families of detainees especially families of those who were arrested on the last Wednesday Eve of the Year (March16) gathered in front of Evin Prison.

Conflicting reports about confrontation between protesters and the police on the night of March 16, Chaharshanbeh Souri have been circulating but none has been confirmed yet.

The families gathering in front of Evin Prison this morning have been reportedly threatened with arrest.

In the past days, families of recent detainees have repeatedly gathered in front of Evin Prison demanding the release of their kin.
