Health of Iranian prisoners failing after hunger strike

On the seventh day of their hunger strike, some Iranian political prisoners in Evin Prison have been transferred to a hospital outside the prison.

Kaleme reports that four prisoners who have been on hunger strike since last week were taken to the prison infirmary and returned to solitary confinement after receiving medical services.

The four prisoners are reportedly continuing with their hunger strike. Detained student activist, Majid Tavakoli has reportedly refused to accept medical services including an IV serum.

The prisoners have gone on strike to protest against being mistreated by prison guards and being kept in substandard conditions.

The families of these detainees gathered in front of Tehran Prosecutor’s Office to express concern over the well-being of their kin.
