Iranian political prisoners end hunger strike

The political prisoners on hunger strike at Evin Prison announced that they have ended their hunger strike today.

Kaleme Website reports that they have received a statement from the prisoners saying “out of respect for the chief supporters of the Green Movement, MirHosein Mousavi and other figures of the movement Mehdi Karroubi, Ayatollah Bayat Zanjani, Zahra Rahnavard, Absollah Nouri, Ezzatollah Sahabi, Ahmad Sadr Seyyedjavadi, Habibollah Peymon, Ebrahim Yasdi and every single friend of the Green Movement' we end our strike.”

Earlier a wave of opposition figures, out of concern for the health of the prisoners, had urged them to end their hunger strike.

The prisoners note that the release of Babak Bordbar, Iranian photojournalist reveals Tehran Prosecutor’s will to adhere to the “legal demands” of the prisoners and expressed their hopes that their other four demands will also be met.

In addition to the release of Babak Bordbar, the prisoners had called for respect for their rights as detainees; confrontation with prison guards that violate these rights; increase in space, phone times and medical services and finally adherence to all the legal regulations connected with prisoners.
