Public support for families of executed Iranian Kurds

A group of Iranian-Kurdish citizens met with the families of the four political prisoners who were hanged in May by Islamic Republic authorities.

According to reports to Zamaneh, a group of Kurdish political and social activists as well as the families of political prisoners visited the home of Farzad Kamangar, Farhad Vakili and Ali Heydarian to mark the end of Ramadan and express their sympathies to the families for their loss.

Saltanat Rezai, mother of Farzad Kamangar, accompanied the group in visiting the homes of Ali Heydarian and Farhad Vakili in Sanandaj.

Reportedly, in Makou, people also visited the home of Shirin Alam Holi, another one of the prisoners who was hanged in May.

The four Iranian Kurds were hanged in May along with Mehdi Eslamian at Evin Prison.

They were charged with “Moharebeh” (rebellion against God) and their death sentence was carried out without prior notice to their families and attorneys.

The execution of these prisoners was followed by a province-wide strike all across Kurdistan cities.

Human rights groups argued that the government had used these unannounced executions to oppress the post-election protests to the alleged electoral fraud that secured Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s re-election.
