Office of Newspaper Publishers Guild sealed

The office of The Association of Iranian Newspaper Publishers Guild was sealed by the order of Saeed Mortazavi, the chief Prosecutor of Tehran. The order was carried out last night, August 5, at 9 p.m. while a general meeting of the association was scheduled for today. The association was established in 1997, at the start of Mohammad Khatami’s term as president and to date has 4000 members.

In the meantime reporters and journalists remain a chief target in the government’s crackdown on recent protests about the elections. Saham News Website reports the art and culture editor of National Trust Newspaper, Mehdi Yazdani Khorram was added to the long list of arrested journalists yesterday. The chief editor of the paper, Mohammad Ghouchani was detained previously.
